The Dark Crystal
“The Dark Crystal” is a fantasy adventure created and co-directed by “The Muppet Show” creator JIM HENSON. A magical crystal cracks and fragments, resulting in two new species: one good and one bad. The bad race uses the power of the “Dark Crystal” to continually replenish themselves.
Henson said that he based the film on his short story “The Crystal”, although some of the film’s philosophical themes, he said, were taken from a New Age cornerstone: “The Seth Material”, a collection of influential messages psychically channelled by JANE ROBERTS from 1963-1984.
Henson also directed and co-wrote the fantasy film “Labyrinth”, also full of occult symbolism, and executive produced by “Star Wars” creator GEORGE LUCAS.
